An evening with Squadron Leader John Peters.
Douneside Military Club members and their invited guests are warmly invited to the 2026 Military Club Charity Dinner at Douneside House.
This year we are honoured to welcome Squadron Leader John Peters as Guest of Honour. John was the RAF pilot shot down over Iraqi territory during Operation Desert Storm alongside his navigator, John Nichol. Together they co-authored Tornado Down, their account of captivity and survival.
Today John is a respected keynote speaker, and we are privileged that he will join us for an evening of fine dining, specially selected wines and exceptional entertainment.

Tickets are available to Douneside Military Club members across the Services and reservists. Each member may invite up to four non-member guests.

Guest of Honour
Squadron Leader John Peters.
John Peters came to public attention after the RAF Tornado he was piloting was shot down over Iraqi territory during Operation Desert Storm. He and navigator John Nichol were captured and later wrote Tornado Down, a powerful account of their wartime experience.
John has since become a highly respected and inspiring speaker, sharing lessons in leadership, resilience and teamwork drawn from extraordinary circumstances.
Charity partner
Supporting Combat Stress.
All proceeds from ticket sales, together with money raised during the evening, will be donated to Combat Stress.
We are also pleased to welcome Chloe Mackay, CEO of Combat Stress, who will share an insight into the charity’s important work supporting veterans’ mental health.
Stay at Douneside
Make an evening of it, or stay a little longer.
A range of accommodation is available for guests wishing to stay overnight, including two and three-bedroom cottages for groups attending the dinner together. All cottage guest rooms have en-suite facilities and all staying guests enjoy complimentary access to the on-site Health Club.
The Military Club discount applies to rooms booked for the night of the dinner.
Guests extending their stay can also benefit from a complimentary fourth night, including breakfast, when reserving a three-night stay. The additional nights may be taken before or after the charity dinner.
Tickets
£110 per person.
The ticket price includes a Champagne drinks reception, three-course dinner with matched wines and entertainment.
Full payment is required at the time of reservation. Tickets are non-refundable; however, the Douneside team will endeavour to re-sell a ticket if a guest can no longer attend.
