Scottish Elopements
A wedding for two, entirely your own
Leave behind the guest list, seating plans and expectations. Exchange your vows in a private country house,
surrounded by seventeen acres of gardens and the landscape of Royal Deeside.

Just for two
Small by design, never by compromise
An elopement at Douneside offers all the atmosphere of a private country house wedding, without the scale.
Spend the morning together in one of our individually designed bedrooms. Exchange vows in the gardens, beneath the trees, or within the house itself. Afterwards, enjoy exceptional dining, a glass of champagne on the lawn, and the freedom to celebrate at your own pace.
Many couples choose to stay for several nights, turning their wedding into an unhurried escape in the heart of Royal Deeside.
Saying “I do”
Your ceremony, wherever feels right
Scotland has become one of the most sought-after places in the world for elopements. Its landscapes, traditions and flexible approach to ceremony allow couples to create something deeply personal.
At Douneside, that freedom is paired with the comfort of a private country house estate. There is no rush, no crowds and no need to move between venues. Everything can happen in one beautiful setting, from the ceremony itself to dinner and your first morning as a married couple.
Choose a ceremony within Douneside House or outside among the gardens and grounds. You might exchange vows in the Library, beneath the trees or on the Infinity Lawn, with the Howe o’ Cromar and the hills beyond as your backdrop.

Stay
Turn your wedding into an unhurried escape
Many couples choose to stay for several nights, allowing time to settle in before the ceremony and enjoy Douneside after the day itself. Stay in one of the individually designed bedrooms within the house or choose an estate cottage for greater privacy.
Breakfast each morning, access to the Health Club and the quiet of the gardens make it possible to combine your wedding and honeymoon in one beautiful Royal Deeside setting.
Dine
A private celebration around the table
Celebrate with afternoon tea, a private dinner or an intimate meal created around the two of you. Douneside’s award-winning chefs will work with you to shape the food for your day, whether you would prefer to dine privately or spend the evening alongside other resident guests.

Celebrate
The freedom to focus on what matters
Without a large guest list or a fixed schedule, there is time to enjoy the moments in between. Walk through the gardens, raise a glass on the lawn, explore Royal Deeside or simply spend the day together without rushing from one part of the celebration to the next. Our team will help arrange the details while leaving the day feeling personal, calm and entirely your own.
