In connection with Scotland’s Garden Scheme, Douneside House’s annual Garden Charity Day returns this July, offering the opportunity to explore our gardens in full summer bloom.
The 17 acres of botanical wealth surrounding the house are carefully maintained and nurtured by the Trust’s expert horticultural team. Guests are invited to enjoy a relaxed day exploring the estate at their own pace.

This is a one day Charity Day. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the entrance on the day. Enjoy access to the gardens throughout the day, with refreshments available to purchase.
On Sunday 5 July, explore Douneside’s rock pool gardens, showcasing a beautiful parade of Hosta, Primula, Iris and Rodgersia. These pools were originally Lady MacRobert’s alpine rock gardens, designed in 1911 by the world famous Backhouse Nurseries of York.
Throughout the day, the garden team will be serving tea, coffee, scones and home bakes, available to purchase. A selection of plants will also be offered for donations, and visitors can enjoy the sounds of the local Ballater and District Pipe Band.
